Refine Laser and Electrolysis now offers the Latisse prescription eye thickener to our clients.
Latisse was approved by the FDA in December 2008. It is a new prescription treatment for hypotrichosis (a condition of inadequate or not enough eyelashes). Latisse is the first treatment approved by the FDA to enhance eyelashes by increasing the length, thickness and the dark color of the lashes.
The active ingredient in Latisse is bimatoprost, the same ingredient in Allergan's prescription treatment for glaucoma called Lumigan. Patients taking Lumigan discovered a side effect of the drug was darker, longer, and thicker eyelashes. Latisse contains the same amount of bimatoprost as Lumigan, but it is brushed on the skin once a day at the base of the lashes. Most clients will start noticing a difference in 8 weeks with the full result visible at 15-16 weeks. When your lashes have reached your desired length then you go to a maintenance level of using Latisse 3-4 times a week. If you choose to quit using Latisse, your eyelashes will gradually return to their pre-treatment state.
